What is the most exciting thing about designing sports facilities?
Every one of our projects is just so important for the city that it happens to be in. Even a 5,000-seat minor league baseball facility or a spring training facility or a major NFL, NBA facility... For that point in time in that city it's just always a huge deal.
What is it like watching your vision for a project come together?
I have a lot of respect for the people who actual work doing manual labor or skilled labor on the project whether it's steel workers or ceramic tile installers. There is a ton of work that has to be put in place and I feel a little bit awkward sometimes walking around a job site in a white shirt while these guys are sweating.
I get the most sense of accomplishment when the project gets done, before the crowds come in and you can just walk around and see that it is ready.
